The Breakaway Breakdown: Josie Conner’s Horse of the Year “Dutch”

Josie Conner’s “Dutch” was overwhelmingly voted 2024 Breakaway Horse of the Year—and with good reason. From the moment the summer run started, Josie and Dutch began collecting ProRodeo checks, moving themselves into the No. 1 position in the Breakaway World Standings by late August.

While Shelby Meged and her mare “Onna” took over the lead on the last weekend of the ProRodeo season, (listen to the last episode!) Dutch’s masterful display of consistency at different setups across the U.S. meant he was voted into the elite club of breakaway horses.
