In this episode, we talked with Nicki Wise, DVM, Ph.D., DACVIM (LAIM), about the distributive model in veterinary education.
In the past 10 years, most new veterinary programs have chosen to develop distributive clinical programs to provide the clinical educational component of a DVM degree. Almost all currently developing programs at new veterinary schools will have distributive clinical educational models.
Dr. Wise explained how distributive rotations differ from traditional externships. They typically involve formal agreements between the veterinary school and participating practices. Students ride with veterinarians at those practices and receive formal assessments.
